“Painters of the World” is a unique international series of silver collector’s coins which was started in 2006.
This series is dedicated to the most famous painters of the world. All coins are rectangular and present individual images of the painters and chosen reproductions of their wonderful works, thanks to which each coin is to some extent a piece of art.
Ilya Repin (in Russian: Илья Ефимович Репин) was an outstanding painter of the Russian Realism who presented simple, average people in his works. He is acknowledged in the whole world for a realistic form and drawings, and for a great sensitivity to light and color. He lived in 1844 - 1930. He created historical works on heroic episodes of old Russian periods in history, as well as political paintings. He painted also portraits, e.g. Russian intellectuals and aristocracy, including the Russian emperor – Nicholas II of Russia. Repin’s paintings are characterized by a huge variety of representations and moods.
