Why order this 4-Piece Smithsonian Edition (2018) $100 - $100K 24K Gold Certificate Set?
This set of four Smithsonian Edition 1934 24K Gold Certificates is perfect for collectors looking for pieces that are related to the history of money. The US went off the gold standard in 1933, and in 1934 issued gold certificates for trade among Federal Reserve Banks. The notes were never released into circulation, and most were destroyed when the banks stopped using them in the 1960s. This set consists of replicas of the notes in four denominations, $100, $1,000, $10,000, and $100,000. Each one was struck from .1 g of .999 fine gold.

Stunning Portrait Designs
Each of the notes features a portrait at the center of the obverse. From the smallest note to the largest, the men depicted are Benjamin Franklin, President Grover Cleveland, Salmon P. Chase, the 25th Secretary of the Treasury, and President Woodrow Wilson. Each man's last name is inscribed just below his portrait. The logo of the Smithsonian Institution is on the left, and the note's denomination is on the right. It is also in each corner. Above the portrait are the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." At the bottom of the obverse are inscriptions of the note's face value spelled out followed by the words "IN GOLD." Below that line is the inscription "PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW." "As authorized by law" distinguishes the 1934 notes from their predecessors. The numerical face value is inscribed in each corner.

At the top of the reverse of each note are the words, "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." The numerical and spelled out face values feature prominently on three of the four certificates. The exception is the $100 certificate, which features a vignette of Independence Hall. "ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS" is inscribed below. On each of the notes, the numerical face value is included in each of the corners.

Beautiful 70
All of the certificates in this set received Paper Money Grading's (PMG's) highest grade, 70. To receive that grade, a certificate must have margins and registration that appear centered to the naked eye and show no signs of handling that are visible under 5x magnification.
